Date: Friday, 7th of February, at 7pm

Spp-presentation.jpg

Sounding poetry of Perception is a multilayered exploration of the relation between our perception and the individual experience of constructing Reality.
During the brainstorming at Ljudmila we will discus the complicate mechanism of observing and analysing surrounding, the ability of description and textual representation of the seen, the usage of interactive interface and computer system to create an abstract response to our vision into abstract soundscape composition from electronic synths and field recordings.

The chain of visual input (human-surrounding interaction) > human analysing (human) > textual representation (human-machine interaction) > text analysing (machine) > sound library (machine - human) > sound mix output (machine) + optional!! textual representation of the sound composition (objective print).

Pepa Ivanova was born 1984 in Bulgaria. She is a visual and sound artist creating site-specific installations, light and sound walks, transient sculptures, and performed interventions into the public space. The focus of her work is illusion in its widest sense, through which she deconstructs the phenomenon of perception, bringing awareness to the discrepancies between our unprocessed sensory input and the mind-facilitated construction of our environment. Pepa employs perceptual phenomena such as after-images, depth perception, spatial mapping and light contrast, in contexts, which provoke an initial disillusionment (the realization that we are fooled by our senses) followed by an encouragement to suspend one’s disbelief and embrace the subtle beauty of the illusion.
Beside her individual art practice she participated in collective projects and actions, such as: #14 Into the Light, Antwerp (December 2009) with a stroboscopic light installation – Sudden light boxes; at Verbeke foundation, Kemzeke (January-February 2009) with UV light/ ropes installation called Hunters of dreams; Invited by Marthe Van Dessel and bolwerk at NADINE ,Brussels(2009), at Z33 Hasselt (2010)and Frans Masereel Centrum, Kasterlee (October 2011), she participate with actions, performances, video and designed objects of the context of each individual project; at Interactivos 13 @Ludmila, Ljubljana(2012) as a project collaborator; Set and sound designer for Canti D’Amour, young opera production of Transparant theater and De Singel, Antwerp (August 2013).
