“This presentation is related to sound/media art and to digital musical instrument design. Creative coding, interaction design, and digital fabrication offer an open access medium for the new generation of artists, to develop their creative ideas and produce sonic artworks that manifest themselves both physically and digitally. The process of instrument making, composing and performing is finally merged into a single practice offering unprecedented potential and creative freedom in music making but also influencing and contributing to other areas of science and technology. Examples from my personal sonic works at the intersection of Art Science Technology will be presented.”

"Could new ways of collaborative engagement help to co-design/co-create structures for our public spaces? How can technology help us spend more time in outdoor public spaces? This talk will discuss design ideas within a Fab Lab context and with a co-creation approach. Fab Labs are often seen as platforms of innovative ideas that may become commercial solutions from which companies can profit. But they may also be seen as platforms for broader participation and new ways of collaborative engagement in design and innovation, pointing at alternative forms of user-driven production."
About the Artists
Alexandros Kontogeorgakopoulos is an academic, musician and artist, conducting transdisciplinary research and creating work at the intersection of art, science, and technology. He has equally a scientific, engineering and musical background which is reflected in the nature of his creative practice and his techno-scientific exploration. After completing his Ph.D. in 2008 in France, he joined Cardiff School of Art and Design (CSAD) at Cardiff Metropolitan University where he is currently Senior Lecturer in Sound and Media Art. His artistic work, which includes audiovisual performances, installations, and compositions, has been presented in Europe and in the US. As an artist/researcher he often develops his own software and hardware and explores novel technical, conceptual and artistic approaches.
He is currently partner coordinator of the EU funded EASTN-DC European Art Science Technology Network - Digital Creativity project. He is also co-founder of stiwdioEverywhere, an art & design studio that travels around the world following the digital nomad's lifestyle, and oneContinuousLab, a transdisciplinary art-science studio-lab based in Athens, Greece.

Olivia Kotsifa is an architect and designer with experience in Athens and Barcelona. Currently she is foremost interested in co-design and co-fabrication of future workspaces and educational spaces. She has worked for 7 years as a Senior Lecturer in the Cardiff School of Art and Design in the United Kingdom, where she started Fab Lab Cardiff, a research and education digital fabrication hub for students, academics and the public. Olivia is currently part of the Decode Fab Lab in Athens. Greece. She believes that mobility has a valuable impact in the future of education and work, and supports it through her academic, design and consulting work while travelling.
