About: The newly affiliated Creative commons force, in the formation of Nataša Muševič – Dot (readwritemusic, Ljudmila) and Dare Pejič (Ljudmila), will present the importance of copyright law in the digital age, its placement within the intellectual property, and to the details define the existing Creative Commons licenses which enable the sharing and use of creativity and knowledge through free legal tools. The presentation will also host a representative of the newly formed Pirate Party of Slovenia, who will share their ideas about the topic. The Edu-Lab is intended for all curious souls, especially authors, artists, designers and makers of creative industries, who are facing the difficulties and lack of knowledge about their own copyrights at every turn. About lecturers:
- Dare Pejić (1983) is a cultural sociologist and historian, currently working in the administration. For master's degree in Sociology of Culture (Faculty of Arts, University of Ljubljana) he has received a scholarship from the Ministry of Culture. He is currently dealing with the social impact of copyright in the digital environment. He was studying at the University of Amsterdam (2008), practicing his skills in the Icelandic National Film Archive in Reykjavik (2010), as well as participating in various media. He writes for the portal Culture.si (2010), the on-line encylopedia of culture in Slovenia, and is since 2011 a member of Creative Commons Slovenia team. The same year, together with Luka Frelih, he attended the Global CC meeting in Warsaw entitled “Powering an Open Culture”. He is keen in group writing by using a free and open source tool Booki/Booktype or even without the use of technology.
- Nataša Muševič – Dot (1985) is a music producer of Slovenian descent. For the last 5 years she is practising music publishing and self-publishing in Slovenia and worldwide. She finished her studies on the topic of copyright and benefits of music producers at the brinks of digital distribution at the SAE Institute in London and strengthen her knowledge on the modern practices of the music industry during her practice at The Orchard, which is one of the largest producers of independent music in digital format. Her music was played by world famous DJs such as Mary Anne Hobbs (on BBC Radio1) and Richard Dorfmeister. Nataša continues to perform and produce under her own record label, even after her arrival back to Slovenia.
